The winning entry from Castlewood Year 3 student Emilia Mathews

With a distinct lack of live sport on our televisions, the pupils of Castlewood instead decided to hold a range of games and matches in their back gardens. The budding sports stars honed their journalism skills by writing a match report, and entering them into our writing competition. The winning entry has been selected as 7 year old Emilia Matthews’ entry of “My chicken football match”.

Here we are in the back garden. The referee is trying to use a whistle because she is a chicken.

Here in the garden stadium we have Elliot, Liz and Ewan Matthews. And here they come and they are using an egg as a ball, OH MY GOSH! I've never seen anything like it, now one of the chicken's is sat on the egg what is going on the crowd wasn't impressed with that move.

Now the other chicken is pushing the chicken the referee is trying to blow the whistle and there's a really high pitch noise it was the whistle then every one get's sprayed with yoke every thing is covered with yoke. I guess that is the end someone get me the hose I think the yoke is on them. Get it, yoke, joke?

They think it's all over it is now.

That is a lovely game the chickens had. I enjoyed reading it. Well done. Keep up your creative writing.

Well done to Emilia for winning our competition, we loved your entertaining and thrilling write-up of the match. Do we have an heir to John Motson in the village?
